Program Initiation: Curriculum Redesign for the Masters of Economics Program

On Thursday, September 12, 2024, the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Yogyakarta (FEB UPNYK) held a workshop focused primarily on redesigning the curriculum for the Master of Economics program (MIE). The event took place at Grand Rohan Hotel, D.I. Yogyakarta.

The workshop invited Dr. Sri Susilo, Secretary of the Indonesian Economics Scholars Association (ISEI) Yogyakarta Branch, as a representative of the professional association. The event was also attended by the Dean of FEB UPNYK, Dr. Januar Eko Prasetio, the Head of the Economics Department FEB UPNYK, Dr. Diah Lutfi Wijayanti, the Head of the MIE Program FEB UPNYK, Dr. Joko Susanto, and several MIE faculty members, including Prof. Didit Welly Udjianto, Dr. Sultan, and Dr. Achmad Syarifudin.

Additionally, the workshop was attended by several stakeholders, graduates' employers, and MIE alumni, including the Compliance Director of BPD DIY Bank, Dian Ariani S.E., M.M., who represented professional faculty members.

According to Dr. Januar, "Redesigning the curriculum is a mandatory activity for the MIE UPNYK program and must involve stakeholders, graduates' employers, alumni, faculty members, and students."

In response to the event, Dr. Diah Lutfi stated that one of the goals of redesigning the curriculum is to prepare for the MIE program's reaccreditation. In this preparation, Dr. Sri Susilo mentioned that "The new curriculum must at least consider several internal and external factors."

According to her, internal factors include the availability of resources, such as faculty members and supporting infrastructure. External factors include market demand, government regulations, and technological advancements. The redesign must involve alumni employers, alumni, professional associations, faculty members, and students.

She stated that the MIE UPNYK curriculum is already market-oriented. The MIE program has prepared courses that align with market needs and available resources.
